General Boat Rental Policies

  • Renter must be 21 years of age with a valid Drivers License and a major credit card
  • Residents of Alabama must have an Alabama Boaters License
  • Nonresidents must have the required license or certification from their home state.
  • Rental time hours are 8am till 5pm. Rental time will not be extended due to late arrivals.
  • A confirmed reservation will hold your rental boat for up to 30 minutes after your scheduled departure time, after which it will be considered a NO SHOW and the entire reservation fee will be forfeited.
  • Each rental boat will have a full tank of fuel at departure. Upon returning the rental boat, it is the responsibility of the Renter to refuel the rental boat with a full tank of fuel. If the rental boat is returned unfueled, the Renter’s credit card on file will be charged for the cost of fuel and a $50 fee.
  • Smoking, open flames, grills, or cooking equipment of any type is prohibited on all rental boats.
  • No pets are allowed on the boat. If you bring a pet, no one will be allowed to board the rental boat, and your reservation will be cancelled with NO REFUND.
  • Changes to existing reservations MUST be made at least 24 hours before the reservation date and time. Changes can not be made online. You MUST call (205) 387-1208 to make these arrangements.
  • USCG approved life jackets will be provided for adults ONLY. We DO NOT provide life jackets for children.
  • Alabama law states occupants under the age of 8 are required to wear a USCG approved life jacket at all times while on the boat.
  • Alcohol is strictly prohibited. On Lewis Smith Lake it is illegal to possess alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol in a watercraft on the lake.
  • Rental boat maximum capacity is 11 occupants (children count the same as adults) – no exceptions.
  • Fishing from the rental boat is prohibited.
  • Towing of any inflatable or water equipment is prohibited. Surfing behind the rental boat is prohibited.
  • Cleaning fee – If the rental boat is not returned in clean condition at the conclusion of the rental, the Renter’s credit card on file will be charged a minimum of $100 for cleaning.
  • At the conclusion of the rental, a Duncan Marina employee must be notified and a quick post-rental inspection of the boat, with the Renter, must be taken before the Renter leaves. Failure to do so may result in charges to your credit card on file.

Rental Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellation made 48 hours or more before the scheduled rental boat departure will receive a 100% refund
  • Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled rental boat departure will forfeit 50% of the total rental amount and receive a 50% refund
  • Rental boats will be held for 30 minutes past the scheduled rental time. After which it will be a NO SHOW and will result in 100% forfeiture of the full rental amount – NO REFUND
